Mildew

Mildew exists in the atmosphere in a dormant phase. Moisture and warmth provide the ideal environment for it's growth. Mildew can also occur because of overwetting and/or incomplete drying of carpet during the cleaning process.

In these conditions, mildew grows rapidly and feeds on organic material or the fibersof the carpet. This invariable results in odor, discoloration and deterioration of the fibers. This deterioration tends to be permanent. The odor, caused by the digestive actions of mildew, disappears once the mildew is treated effectively.

To eliminate mildew, the most important thing is to ensure that the absence of the chief factor that support it : dampness.Various fungicides are available in the market targetted at mildew treatment of carpets. Strict precautions must be taken to follow the instructions given on the products packaging to prevent any mishaps.
