Fading
With time and age, many carpets fade under the attack of sunlight, artificial light, atmospheric gases (like nitric oxide, hydrogen sulfide and ozone), household chemicals like bleaches and deodorizers etc.
Though many factors like extent of exposure, material and the dyes used, this is specially true of naturally dyed fibers. Preventive measures like window drapes, UV-radiation blocking coating on windows buying colorfast carpets for highly exposed areas need to be taken to safeguard against fading.
