What is Web Based Training? How does it work?

A Web Based Training Course presents an environment on the World Wide Web in which students and instructors can perform learning related tasks related to communication, student assessment and class management.Students can access this course from their home or office PC's, Macintosh computers and laptops via modem. You can also use online facilities available in public libraries anywhere in US, but certain rules about access may apply on these machines. You can study the material, attempt quizzes, contact instructors and other classmates whenever you want. This is called Delivery-on-Demand. Besides this, you can set your own pace for the schedule of class time, regardless of when other students are accessing this course. In this way you can schedule this course around your work hours, during weekends or even late at night. This is referred to as Self Paced Learning.

The following table presents a evaluation of WBTs vis-a-vis Computer Based Training (CBT), Instructor Lead Training (ILT) or workshop, and books.
